A Hope That is GREATER

This message was recorded in a visitors room at Brother Freedom’s new assisted living seniors apartments complex. You can hear voices of staff folks out in the hall in the background.
Brother Freedom begins to share about how his fellow residents at the senior estates speak of trivial things. They seem not to realize that they are on the borders of eternity. They are just waiting in the senior home, but they have no idea or concern about what is ahead. They are like a bunch of cattle being prepared for slaughter. This weighs so heavily on Brother Freedom’s heart. When he tries to share with his fellow residents they become offended. To speak of eternal things is considered a negative topic. They would rather speak of playing cards, or bingo and also of the weather. Eternal matters bother most of these folk.
But believers and disciples of the Lord God have a hope that is greater than what men have. Believers have that assurance that the Lord God will be with us at that last hour. Even when the days get dark God Almighty is still with us.
This is the hour when Jesus’ coming is very soon, very sure. HE is coming for a people that has waited and are looking for HIM. That day is coming like a thief in the night. Those who are ready are going to live eternally, forever and ever. Those that miss that day, it is going to be a terrible time; a day of great troubles, great persecutions, great sadness. But for the child of God it is a time of relief! It is a time when we can say, “Praise God I made it! Thank YOU Lord! I’ve made it! With YOUR help I am here today. And I thank YOU, thank YOU Father!”
We know the book of Daniel is a great big landmark in the Word of God. It is about that day, the soon coming. And Daniel predicted, many years ago, we would see that day. He said there would be a lot of travel and many things that we have never seen before. Daniel predicted that knowledge would increase greatly, and so it has. Mankind is scrambling to find enough room in which to store all the knowledge.
We don’t get to Heaven by pushing buttons. We get to Heaven because we search for the right things. We search for the Lord God Almighty through HIS Son Jesus Christ who is the way.
“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting HOLINESS in the fear of God.” [2 Corinthians 7:1]
The world in these days takes salvation and Christianity very lightly. It is just something they do to ease their weekend deal. It is not that! It is a piece of life! You become a child of God because you love the Lord Jesus Christ and your Heavenly Father. You search for HIM. That peace of God is something you cannot have without the Lord. It is beyond any depth of all things imaginable in the way of mankind. It is a GREAT power when you become a child of God! You receive a great gift. And that gift is forever and ever and ever. That gift is a part of eternity that God gives you, as a child of God, that you are going to live with HIM forever and ever. But the world cannot understand it. They cannot understand it because they have never received it.
