This sermon was preached at Faith Hope and Love Ministries, October 22, 2003
I appreciate God for HIS goodness. I don’t know how many more years I have, if God doesn’t come before. But especially this last year has been beyond imagination, what God is doing. I can’t even tell you all. Brother Clint and I know some things that is only between our hearts. Brother Gary you know some of those things. I don’t want to boast. I never want to boast. That is one thing that we cannot do, because God is ALL sufficient. And we glory in HIM. We don’t glory in anything that we do. We just glory for HIM, with HIM. Because boasting makes us ugly. And we don’t want that.
That is what God spoke to me this day, yesterday, for about a week. And this is one of the things that saddens God’s heart. And I hope I can give it here tonight with love, with joy.
Father God, in the wonderful Name of Jesus we just love YOU and we thank YOU for this glorious, this most holy day. For surely this is YOUR day, and we rejoice. And we are so glad in it. We thank YOU for Thy blessings forevermore. We thank YOU for Thy faithfulness. We thank YOU for Thy guidance, for Thy direction, for Thy liberty. The Word says that where YOU are you send forth LIBERTY. Where YOUR Spirit is there is LIBERTY. And Father I thank YOU for that liberty that I feel. I thank you for Thy liberty we feel wherever we are, because YOU will never leave us. YOU will never forsake us. And Lord I thank YOU for YOUR Almighty Presence. I thank you that YOU are so real, that you are MY closest Friend. YOU are my closest Wondrous, and you are my glory. I love YOU so much! And I praise YOU! And I want to satisfy YOU this night. I want to bring joy to THY heart, Lord God. I want my life to be a blessing for those round about. Father, that is all I strive for! That is what I live for! That is what I pray to YOU for, that I would not cause no one any hurt, nowhere. That I would be moved upon by YOUR Spirit. And YOUR Spirit doesn’t hurt. IT moves. IT moves because YOUR Holy Spirit is so easily grieved. And I want to come to that place that I am where YOU are. That if someone does something I don’t reply back, I don’t ANGER through whatsoever comes my way. And Father we pray for a mighty blessing upon this place. Father we pray for the shekinah glory to be on this sanctuary. And Father we pray for those right now that might be sick, that might need a touch from Heaven. We pray for the Spirit of God to come down and bring that healing touch in the Name of Jesus. We pray for Betty. We pray for each one of these this night. We pray that you will restore, re-touch, re-manufacture, re-build all of us for Thy Glory. Glory to God, that we might be a product for Thee this day. That we might live a wholesome life before YOU, Father God. And Father YOU have a great work for everyone of us here this night. Lord God help us to come that way that we will give ourselves totally to YOU this night in the Wonderful Name of Jesus.
When the Spirit of God comes upon you it is hard to even speak. You know these little bodies can’t hardly handle God. And that is what I am understanding. It just blows me away.
Like Monday, I went and run a motor grader down here at a eucalyptus farm. And I was so glad because, I knew for how many hours I run that blade I was going to have a conversation with the Lord. And I have to say I have grown into this. But God lets me hear a lot of things. I don’t touch them. I don’t ever give them out (private things). One of the first vows I had to give the Lord was that when God gave me something (private) I would never reveal [it]. I have never revealed! I say before God! I don’t want to reveal it! It is God’s purpose. But God is always true.
The Bible says, test the spirit. [See 1st John 4:1] Some of you know that. But when God gives you something you say, “It is done before, before it ever happens!” And you know it is real. You can’t understand why that God can be so far up there, and you are down here, but HE can speak that way. But I just want to testify that God is glorious! And HE satisfies. HE satisfied that longing in me.
But God was speaking in my heart in the Twenty Fifth Chapter of Matthew it starts out that there were ten virgins. Five were wise and five were foolish. And the five that were wise took for themselves [a reservoir of] oil. And those that were foolish took no [reservoir] of oil. But I am going to go from there back to the book of Numbers. And God spoke to my heart. And it is the Eleventh Chapter, I believe.
God spoke to my heart that this [passage of Scripture] is how HE feels. It says, they murmured (or complained) against God. [See Numbers 11:1] And God was not happy with their murmuring. God was actually displeased. It hurt the heart of God for HIS people, that loved HIM, that HE shed HIS presence upon them; HE had taken them through the Red Sea. And HE had done all these wonderful, wonderful, wonderful things. When you see God touch you so much, it hurts you when someone says something [against HIM], when you feel a coming against the Spirit of God. Oh hallelujah!
And in Numbers, Chapter 12, Aaron and Miriam also complained that they could speak better than Moses. And God heard this! And it brought disfavor upon them. And God brought them down. You know that HE put leprosy [on Miriam]. And HE told them in effect; HE said, “Moses is my man. Nevertheless I speak through MY servant.” God had not chosen for it to be the way [Aaron and Miriam had envisioned]!
So any of our motives we grow into, and God can’t remove you if HE plants you in that area. You are there sealed with God! In Ephesians, the First Chapter and the thirteenth verse it says, “…ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,…” What that means: I work around equipment. We just lifted an engine this morning. And God performed this miracle. All these years (30 years) I knew about this engine. And a man called me two days ago. He says, “[Brother Freedom], where is there an engine to fit my Cat?” [a 46A Caterpillar Tractor]. And I said, “I know where there is one in a barn!”
God foreknew all of this situation. And this engine wasn’t hurt a bit [from being stored for 30 years]! All this time it sat there, in perfect condition.
But God can restore us, can keep us through the times when there is turmoil running, when there may be times that HE wants to let you sit back on the side lines. And you say, “Well, nothing is really happening.” But you are pleasing God.
Just having your love, your adoration, your worship to God, your prayers to God, your thanksgiving to God; all these gladden the heart of God.
The Bible says in Colossians, the First Chapter, “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing,…” [Colossians 1:10] We need, and that is my biggest aim, and I’m going to try to do more and more pleasing God, doing whatever HE wants! That my breath will be the breath of God. And you get a satisfaction out of this. It is beyond description. You cannot understand it. But there is a satisfaction, a fulfillment in your life that if all should suddenly shut off, that you know all is well!
There is a peace that goes through your liberty that gives you LIBERTY! It gives you POWER. It gives you strength! It gives you blessings! It gives you a HOPE for eternity, that you know that if God be for you, who can be against you. [See Romans 8:31] “…greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world.” [1st John 4:4b] “…Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” [John 14:27b] God gives us THAT purpose!
Getting back to Numbers. God spoke to Moses. God put leprosy on Miriam. It shut the whole army of people DOWN! They were standing still, [they could not travel]. They didn’t’ move any! For seven days Miriam went out [of the camp] by herself. And then she came back and Moses prayed for her. Through his prayer she was clean. She was able to come back among them. And the people just kept going on [in disobedience]. And God says, “I think I will just take these people off the face of the Earth. I’m going to do them in.”
And Moses pleads with God. He says, “You know, God, the heathen, the Egyptians they are going to think YOU led your people out here that they might fall. They are going to say bad words about YOU!”
Moses must have been a tremendous, meek man, that would come and tell God, “Lord, I love you so much. I’m willing to sacrifice my position to tell YOU what I [must].” And Moses was sacrificing what he had, to God, to do the will of God! Oh, hallelujah! God seen something in Moses that was very special, very unique, glorious, as Moses deals with God, actually!
And God hears this and HE says, “Nevertheless I will let them go in [to the Promised Land], but only two [that left Egypt] will go into the Promised Land.”
And this is where the Spirit of God really dealt with me. But Caleb, [one of those two men that finished the full trip from Egypt to the Promised Land] had a more excellent spirit! His spirit was GREATER. And in Daniel the Sixth Chapter [Daniel 6:3] it says Daniel had a more “excellent spirit.”
And that is the part that I would like to get going on is the Spirit of God, that God is in the spirit-changing business in your life! We are going to Galatians now, the Third Chapter. God spoke this tonight, basically what it is going to be. And I believe it is from the Lord. In the Third Chapter of Galatians it talks about how that they had once known the Lord and what caused them to not stay in the Spirit of God.
You know I feel the presence of God here, so real tonight! Some of you here might say, “I don’t believe what I’m seeing.” But, you give God time, and God can speak to your heart. And that is part of what I am going to be covering, is our concern for our brothers, our sisters. That is part of us growing up, talking up.
Third Chapter of Galatians: “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?” [Galatians 3:1]
And then in the third verse: “Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?” [Galatians 3:3]
Sometimes, God has been telling me… It hurts me to say this, but many of HIS people have been full of the Spirit. Many have walked glorious. And tonight they are far from God! What a tragedy! What a tragedy that they would miss out and lose that Heavenly blessing that only God can give them!
The Bible says, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” [Romans 8:31b] “…greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world.” [1st John 4:4b] We think about it. We have the greatest blessings in our life and we take it so lightly. Many times we take it as light words.
But everything that God says IS TRUE. HIS whole Word is true! Everything that HE declares is real! HIS Word spoken out is POWER! “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” [Proverbs 18:21] “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” [Psalms 19:14] It says, “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;…” [Ephesians 6:6] That’s what God wants! “With goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:…” [Ephesians 6:7] There is a difference [doing service as unto God and not as unto men].
We are to please our brothers and our sisters. But in Galatians the Sixth Chapter it says, “For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.” [Galatians 6:3-4]
We have to prove ourself to God, prove ourselves “… a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” [2nd Timothy 2:15]
Many times we are not in a place that God wants us to go out and do ministry. We need to take heed to the Word of God. We must take time to study God’s Word. We must take time as these troops that is in Iraq.
I know what is wrong, being a veteran. What is wrong over there now: You cannot take men that has been trained at home and have them become a combat veteran! There is no way in the World. You have got to take them that they stay in confined conditions that they become HARDENED to be able to do the task before them. And it is a terrible task. And when you take people that is in the National Guard, I would tell the President of the United States, anybody: they are NOT ABLE. They are not capable. I saw them in Korea [National Guardsmen]. We lost men after men after men because they were NOT trained in doing their job.
And we need some training in the Lord Jesus Christ. We need to TRAIN ourselves, train ourselves that we might have the cooperation with God the Father, God the Son. We go on in our own selfish ways and pretty soon we become failures. And all that it is done is blackened the eyes of God. And God doesn’t like that! And I don’t blame HIM! That is terrible!
As a mechanic, if someone goes out here, and they don’t know what to do as to working on a machine. If you take your machine to them they will probably tear it apart and put it all back together and it will NEVER run again! And that is what we do sometimes in the Christian world. We put people out before they are ready to go out for God. Then we blame them because they have problems. We blame them and they are NOT ready! They should take counsel of God and say, “I need to study! I need to SEEK God for awhile! I need to stand upon HIS Word! I must educate myself in God that I might develop in the inspiration of God, because the job that I’m doing is very vital.”
It is vital when you are out here talking about lives, people going to a devil’s hell are going out to eternity. It means EVERYTHING, if you are in the Spirit of God. Because God should speak to your heart and adjust you for what you are facing.
God is REAL!
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other:…” [Galatians 5:16-17a] “Contrary the one to the other,” the flesh! And I’ve learned this. But I say this with ALL humbleness here. But I know I have been some places that when I lived loosely Christians liked me. We grow in depth in the Spirit! We do!
There are some things, whether you want to believe it or not, but there is times when we need to be set free!
In Galatians 5:1 it says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” [Galatians 5:1] When we start coming into the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, goodness, meekness, temperance, patience. But when we have the works of the flesh, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, witchcraft. These are from the enemy! [See Galatians 5:19-21] And if they are in your heart there is something wrong with your spirit!
That is the part I want to bring out! THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG with your spirit when you become angry, when you don’t pay your bills, those things that you want to go the “light” [easy] way. God wants us to be RESPONSIBLE people in the Land that we live in! HE wants us to obey the speed limits, all these things that come our way, that we might be a product of God! That God would not be ashamed of us, that we would rightly divide the Word of truth. And this is the truth where we must take “…heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” [Hebrews 2:1b]
“…lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,…” [Hebrews 12:1] “…with patience…”, Hallelujah!
You know you can take an airplane and take that plane straight up and it will come to a stall speed. It will stall out at a certain place. But if you take ten pounds off of it, it will come UP a lot further [before it stalls]. God spoke to me this afternoon. Many times we pray for God, that God would bless us, that we would pray for God that HE would open the windows of Heaven. And HE said this day, HE told me, “Tell MY people that I have blessed them! Tell them to start taking off those weights. And if they will take those weights off, I have already done MY part. Now it is up to them to take the weights off. And then they shall be blessed. They shall receive the inheritance! And they shall receive the faithfulness.”
God wants us to grow up!! Hallelujah! Where HIS Spirit is “…there is liberty!!!” [2nd Corinthians 3:17] “If God be for us, who can be against us?” [Romans 8:31b] “…greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world.” [1st John 4:4b]
We are to take God’s Word and pray it into our being! Everyday we need to take time. We need to have all day long. If it takes all day long to pray, pray all day long!! I try to pray continuously if I don’t have something else going. And it works! It is REAL! You don’t mess up any stop signs! You don’t do anything wrong, because God will NOT let you do it wrong [when you are praying as you go]! GOD is at the helm!! God is within you! God will never leave you! HE will never forsake you! This life, this walk with Jesus Christ is REAL!
I’m just a nobody! But I know THE SOMEBODY that is ALL things!! And HE is more than a conqueror! HE is more than sufficient! HE is able to bear thy load, lift thee up, to take thee through. But there is times when God says, “Lay aside those weights, oh man, oh woman! They are hindering you! You don’t have enough horse power!”
Did you realize everything that God has takes fuel?? Going back to the Ten Virgins [in Matthew 25]. Oil is a fuel! These planes fly with fuel. The animals that we eat are fueled with grass, hays, grains. Those are fuel! And we are God’s people, and in the natural we don’t go very far without eating. Are you with me?? But if we don’t take heed to the Word of God, we shrivel up. We dry up! And we get shriveled up like an old dry prune. And pretty soon we get puffed up. And we think that we are somebody when we are NOTHING! And that is when God says we must prove ourselves with HIM.
“If God be for us, who can be against us?” [Romans 8:31b] “…greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world.” [1st John 4:4b] We must EAT God’s Word; justify God’s Word upon us, that God wants to bless us! I love you out there! Some of you, I don’t know whether you love me, but I love you! Because I wouldn’t get very far unless I loved you! I learned a lot of years back [to love others].
Last week this man came into the shop. He swore at me. He cursed at me. He said, “I come in here! I want you to put these bearings in!” I looked and I said, “Do you have an account here?” And he said, “YES!! I’m so and so!!” So I thought, “Well, I’ll just do it with love.” So I went ahead and fixed it. It was quite a little work that I had to do. His girlfriend came and said, “Well, I’ll pay you.” And I said, “No, you don’t owe us nothing.” And he sort of walked off. But just the next minute God has a way of repaying you.
This lovely lady [a little grandma], she’s about 85 years old, Kathleen, [came in]. I had seen her about a week before. [On her first visit] I told her “Have a good day!” That was all she needed was a good day! [On her first visit she had been very unhappy and miserable. The words “Have a good day,” had touched this lady.]
But this day she wanted to come back. [A week had passed] She said, “I perceive that you have been sent by God.” I said, “How do you know that.” She said, “I just know it.”
I said, “Are you a Christian?” She said, “Yes, but I don’t have no joy. And I don’t have no peace.”
And I said, “Well, I guarantee you the Bible tells me that you can have joy.” And I said, “Before you leave here I’m going to pray for you, that you are going to have joy, you are going to have peace. ‘The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.’ ” [Proverbs 10:22] And I started getting in high gear.
And I said, “God wants to be in with your life! HE wants to [touch you].” And she was [touched]. She said, “Are you a preacher?” I said, “Not really.” [Brother Freedom may preach, but he is a diesel mechanic and a heavy equipment operator. He’s just a laymen full of the Spirit of God! Freedom said,] “I love God!”
She said, “Well don’t you do something for God?” Freedom said, “Yeah, I work every day. I have a sick wife.” She said, “Oh, you have?” I said, “Yeah and she is getting better too!”
God has a great humor. I have learned this! I have never had so much joy, so much completeness as I have in God [at this time]. That even this day, these men that I was with that were a bunch of rag tails. That’s what I would call them. They were really [of this World]. They couldn’t figure me out at all!
I felt the joy of the Lord! I was like Sister Jean, it didn’t make any difference. I was going to worship the King even if my enemy was right next to me! And I thought about it, Sister Jean. I just worship God. I don’t have to worry. God is going to be WITH me, Brother Clint! HE is going to carry me through the times of discouragement, through the times of oppression. God wants to set us free.
And here tonight, if you have these works of adultery, these things: envy, murder. God spoke to me this day. HE says, “You know what? MY people come to ME.” I’m just going to translate what HE told me. HE said, “MY people come and they want, they beg ME for deliverance. I have to tell them if you quite envying, if you quite striving I could touch you.”
But when we block God we block God off with what we do! We say, “I want YOU to touch me God.” And then we are out here. We get discouraged and worse than that we [as an example] look [at another] and we envy, we strive. It doesn’t hurt THEIR relationship with God. [But] it steals what God has given me. It STEALS! There cannot be nothing that causes you to fluctuate [or you will miss God’s blessing]. It is like an engine, it can’t fluctuate. It has to move with power! We need not to fluctuate! We need the desires of the Holy Spirit from Heaven to anoint us from the very crown of our head to the very sole of our feet, that we might be delighted to carry that heavy load that God lays upon us. That HE says that HE will carry it for us!
The Bible says, “…and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” [1st Peter 5:5b] “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that HE may exalt you in due time:” [1 Peter 5:6] “Casting all your care upon HIM; for HE careth for you.” [1st Peter 5:7] HE cares for you!!! “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith,…” It says it right in the Word, “stedfast.” Brother Dave it says it right in the Word, that we are to “…take heed knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” [1st Peter 5:8-9]
But see, we have an aid. We have a plus, because it says HIS, “…eyes…run to and fro…” Oh, GLORY TO GOD. This touches me! “…throughout the whole earth, to shew HIMSELF strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward HIM.” [2nd Chronicles 16:9a]
You know I had a little mishap Monday and I’m going to tell you about it. That blade I was running [an old motor grader] had no brakes. And I didn’t realize it until I got in this steep hillside. I turned around in the middle of the road because they wanted me to just go back and touch up so that the road would be finished. It was a very hard spot.
If you go through and just blade the road it is pretty easy, because you just keep blading. You don’t have to turn around. Those blades don’t turn around very easy, no brakes. And I didn’t want to scar up the ground because I put the blade down! And the blade would stop me, but it would scar the ground up! So I lifted the blade up and I thought, “You know if I coast in there, where those trees are, looks to me like it is up hill, and the blade will stop.” Sure enough it DIDN’T stop! I went in there about ten feet!
So you know I had to go to the owners and tell him, “You know I knocked out some of your eucalyptus trees.” He said, “Is that all you did?” I said, “Yes. I just want to let you know that I did it. I’m sure sorry! It won’t happen again! But I am sure sorry!” He said, “Don’t even WORRY about it!!!!” And I didn’t find out until later that they are going to get rid of those eucalyptus trees anyway!
But sometimes we fret ourself. The Bible says, “Fret not thyself because of evildoers,…” [Psalms 37:1a] We fret ourself about a problem that is not even a PROBLEM!! We fret ourself because it is not even existent! And we put it in this mind. The Bible says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,…” Sister Babcock “…whose mind is stayed on THEE: because he trusteth in THEE.” [Isaiah 26:3] Hallelujah!
“If God be for us, who can be against us?” [Romans 8:31b] “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through HIM that loved us.” [Romans 8:37] “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew HIMSELF strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward HIM.” [2nd Chronicles 16:9a] “Now unto HIM that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the POWER that worketh in us,” [Ephesians 3:20] You have a power cell here. You have power in you that can cope.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” [Ephesians 1:3] In Jude it says, “Now unto HIM that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of HIS glory with exceeding JOY…” [Jude 1:24] What TREASURES in the Word!! “Now unto HIM that is able….” Oh, PRAISE God! God’s wonderful Word is REAL! It is wholesome! It will take you through! It is the presence of God HIMSELF!!
God wants us to be suited up with HIS [presence], to know what HE is [like down] here, so that we will not be afraid when we get up there! God wants to know you NOW! NOW is the time to greet God! NOW is the time to make relationship with God!
I am here tonight if you need to make a relationship with God, every one of us. We need to relate ourself to HIM. God wants a more intimate relationship than we can imagine!
God has spoken to me. HE says, “You know that old black dog you’ve got?”
And that black dog gives me such problems every day. Holly always does something, knocks something. Holly is NOT perfect! Last night I come home and my wife said the power company is going to come tomorrow so I have to lock Holly up.
So I locked her up. When I got back last night she had climbed over this fence and got the rope tied around her, all in the fence, all tangled up. And here I have to go out in the dark and find her. She’s crying. But I don’t have the strength that I used to have. And so I got her up and GOD showed me, that is how much HE cares for us! That old dog, I’m willing to go out and and help that old dog, that plain old dog, a dog, a dog, just a plain old dog! We care for things like that. We care for our little squirrels. We care for things.
But God wants us to care more for HIM, that whatever we see we need to serve HIM out of the abundance of: “I love you Lord!”
Lord I love you!! I praise YOU for thy wonders! I want to adore YOU this night! I want to glorify YOU this night! I want the beauty of holiness to be upon this life. In the wonderful Name of Jesus, I pray this night that YOU would saturate YOUR people here this night from the very crown of their heads to the very soles of their feet. I pray for a BLESSING upon everyone in this room, from the very crown of their head, the joy of the Lord will be REAL here tonight. Promote them! Bless them! Let them have enjoyment as I have in serving you, LORD. It has been a blessed walk, and it has been a blessed talk. And Father, I praise YOU this night. And I thank YOU for all YOUR wonderful people out here tonight. Lord I thank you for Sister Inna [the pastor]. I thank you for Brother Dale [her husband]. I thank YOU for all out here this night. Oh hallelujah, Father for Sister Jean, and all the wonderful people, Sister Babcock, Betty, Marsha, David, all here tonight.
Oh hallelujah! Glory to God! Hallelujah
I love each one of you! I want God to bless you! But I take you before the throne every day. I do! I take you to the throne of God. And when we learn how to move with God, it is by praying, by taking counsel in HIS Word, taking heed to HIS Word. Let God be the teacher for you. God will be with you.
It says, “But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden.” [Galatians 6:4-5]
